The Love Lock Wall in Pécs is located in the downtown of the city, on the Janus Pannonius Street. It takes place between two close iron fences. The tradition of the love locks appeared in Pécs for the first time. There are several theories or legends about the Wall’s formation, but the most commonly accepted one goes back to 1971. Allegedly some seniors attached their high school locker’s padlock after their successful graduation. Or another legend suggests that married women showed to their lovers with a hanging padlock that their husbands are not at home.
Pécs was the Cultural Capital City of Europe in 2010. So Pécs definitely worth a visit besides attaching your love lock.
